An old door in a Wada in Menavali village, India. I had drawn this live in Menavali. Colored it later. This was sold in my last exhibition 🙂
Today morning we at Pune Urban Sketchers did our weekly sketchcrawl at Main Street and MG road, Cantonment area.
This smallish junction visible in the picture is in fact a very busy area. It was relatively less maddening today due to Sunday early morning.
Done with pen, inks, watercolors and watercolor pencils.
Sometimes, unpleasant situations present an unexpected opportunity. Last week, I was stuck in a traffic jam when I noticed these abandoned vehicles lying on the roadside, about 20 meters from me.
Thanks to the traffic jam, I could take some photos using my cellphone cam. Completed this sketch today. Done using pen, inks and watercolors.
I pass by this dilapidated house every day on my way home from work. This is one of the houses marked for demolition. Since no one is in a hurry to demolish them, these houses are rotting and crumbling on their own. These provide excellent opportunities to study textures.
Drawn using pens, inks and watercolors.
Today I chose a higher vantage point to do my lunchtime sketch. I was sketching these bunch of taparies (roadside tea and snack stalls) from one of the muti-level car parks. 10 mins into the sketch, and there was a sudden commotion below. Anti encroachment van of the municipal corporation had arrived to act on the illegally set up stalls!
As the vendors ran helter-skelter to salvage what they could from the hands of law, the scene quickly changed. The van stayed for almost 15 mins, confiscating some goods, and leaving ruined stalls behind.
I am sure the stalls will be back in a couple of days to serve the IT professionals too much disillusioned with their office canteens!
